First, locate any possible sources and entry points of ants. Look for ant trails in your house. Make sure that there are no cracks in your doors, windows and floors. If you are able to find trails and cracks, you know where to sprinkle or spray natural pest control solutions.

There are a lot of ant control products that are eco-friendly in your local stores. Pour vinegar and lemon juice in these ant tracks. Sprinkle some cinnamon along their trails. Make sure that your home is regularly cleaned most specially the kitchen. After every meal you need to throw away the garbage, sweep the floor and wipe the table clean. Make sure your trash bins are properly sealed and if possible put them away as far from your house.

Important factors to consider in buying a new house

January 4th, 2010

Buying your own home is one of the greatest feelings in life.  Of course during the housing boom this happened more often then it does today. But when buying a home there are some things that you should ensure you have knowledge about.  One of those things is pests. So here are some important things to look for to ensure that when you buy, the pests are taken care of.

First and foremost you should just come out straight and question the house seller if there are any problems in pest control.  We get called out to homes all the times by sellers in our pest control San Diego service. They are doing it to satisfy any potential buyers most of the time.So by you asking about it most house vendors will tell you about it and be truthful.

Next thing you want to do is look for any sign of ants. In my ant control San Diego service I always ask my clients to see if there are ants on the outside of the home.  If there are, then there is a good possibility they are in the home as well. You can look for this as well as a prospective buyer.  Look on the outside of the home for any sign of ants.

Lastly you need to be certain that there are no rodent related problems. In my San Diego mouse control service this is another troublesome pest.Because they can multiply faster than rabbits once they have nested in your home. The best way for you to determine the existence of rats or mice is by checking the attics.  You want to look to see if there are mouse droppings. There is a problem if there are.

When buying a new house, hopefully this will help you know what to look for.As mentioned having to get rid of pests is the last thing you want when moving into a new home.

How to get rid of pests that invade your houses

December 3rd, 2009

One of the most common problems we face as homeowners are pests. There are times when they seem to be invincible.  Pests such as ants, spiders, rodents, or whatever always are unwelcome. So what can one do to prevent those pests from going to their houses? Here are some things one can do to prevent them from wreaking havoc in your houses .

First of all the best tip you can get is to lessen the pests’ reason for attack. For example, the ants.  In my pest control San Diego service I always advice my clients on getting rid of the reasons for attack.  And what is that reason you ask?It is improperly stored food. The ants are looking to stock up on food for the winter. That is why they roam around everywhere during hot season. So what I can suggest to you is to always clean your house and store your food properly.Do not leave leftover food in the open and always clean those stains and spills.

Another pest that is hard to get rid of are rodents.  In my San Diego mouse control service this is the one that takes awhile to get rid of.Because once they get into your homes they reproduce very fast. The only reason why they come into your houses is to build their nests.  The best way to fight rodents or mice is to set up traps.  That is really the best way to kill them off.You do not want to give them poison and kill them in your homes and smell the bad odor as they rot.

So those are some tips in preventing pests from getting into your homes again. As I tell my clients in my ant control San Diego service sometimes you can’t avoid them coming into your home. You just have to do some things to scare them off. Using some of these tips should help you do some good fighting to get rid of them.

Pest control for your home

November 5th, 2009

One of the things that really gets to homeowners is pests.Nothing makes you have a worse feeling then a home that has a bunch of pests infesting it.Whether it is insects like cockroaches, spiders, or ants.  Or it could be pests like rodents such as mice or rats. Not only do you have this helpless feeling, but you also have the feeling that your house is dirty as well.So what can a homeowner do?

Naturally what you want to do is call a pest control company.  With it being summer my San Diego exterminator company gets very busy. One way in particular is controlling ants gets real busy. With the summer season upon us this is the time ants try to find stuff in your home to eat. There are times when you do as much as you can to keep your home clean but they are still able to find something. They are able to find just tiny pieces of food and have a swarm around it.

I tell you there isn’t a grosser looking site then a bunch of ants.  Making it worse is a bunch of ants in your home.So when you come to that point, bug sprays just won’t do the job.It will be able to get rid of the ants that are present. But where the real problem lies is in the colonies of ants on the outside of the home.  You need to kill those.  That is where a good San Diego ant control company comes in.

But following insects the next bad type of pest are rodents.  Another awful thing to happen to your house is to get run over by mice or rats.  A lot of times homeowners hate dealing with it so they call my San Diego mouse control service.  Because they could just as easily set traps. But needing to clean up the mess is even worse. But also there are baits that can be set up by a good company on the outside of your home. That will be able to kill them before they come in.  With rodents you don’t want them to nest in your home.Kill them as soon as possible.
