We Will Spend More Going Forward

January 6th, 2010

I am just another person interested in the world affair. But I firmly trust that petrol is going to rise again back to the pre crisis level by early next year.

This market crash taught us many things such as to spend what we can afford.Did we really learn the lesson? My guess is that the answer is no.At the peak of economy at 2006, everyone spend like there is no tomorrow. We spend like there is no tomorrow. We bought SUVs which are petrol consumption monster. We bought items (which mostly has a base component of oil) and stock them up at home and then forgot about it.  We also heat our pool the whole day.Such bad habit has help in pushing the petrol prices higher and hurt the environment.

Most of us do not the indirect impact of such irresponsible behavior on the oil prices. The average consumer took a beating and this is make worse when the economy comes crashing down on its knees at 2008. When it happened, we started to take stock of what we do not need.We started to cut down on unnecessary car trips and we also stopped buying SUVs and turn to focus onsmall cars.  We can also start to embark on low cost diy solar pool heater and try to save energy. Start saving the earth with solar power for homes.

I would say the only good thing that came out from this economy crisis is the change in our behavior to be more socially responsible.

If only this habit continues in a good economy as well.  This will always be a wish I suppose.  The economy has recently pick up and irresponsible behavior is starting to appear again. It just does not seem that we have learnt from our mistakes. The next cycle of crisis will be worse than this as the world’s economy gets more connected.

It is almost impossible to decouple the economy from each other. But we surely can be less dependent on oil.  This is not just a matter of political will, but it is a transformation change in consumer habit. For the presence, be prepared to pay more.  More about energy saving at Renewable energy sources.

SOLAR LIGHTS UP THE CENTURIES

October 15th, 2009

Solar power has been around since the Seventh Century BC.
In ancient Egypt, heat from the sun was used to bake a mixture of straw and mud into bricks which were used for construction.Ancient Greeks and Romans recognised the benefits of what we now call passive solar design – using architecture to maximise the sun’s capacity to heat and light indoor spaces.
Building south-facing houses enabled them to maximise the winter sun.  Simultaneously, they were able to reduce their dependence on firewood which was often in short supply, making early use of renewable energy in preference to fossil fuels. The Romans took solar design seriously, making it illegal to obscure a neighbour’s access to sunlight and using glass for windows.
Much less passive was the use of solar energy by the Ancient Greeks, who used bronze shields to direct the sun’s rays onto the wooden ships of the Roman army to set fire to them.  Some native American cultures built their homes against the sides of rocky cliffs to benefit from the natural storage of heat harnessed during the day.
It was not until 1839, nearly 80 years after a solar collector is said to have been built by Swiss scientist, Horace de Saussure, that the platform for modern solar energy development was established with the discovery of the photovoltaic effect by French physicist, Edmond Becquerel.  He discovered that electric current in certain materials could be increased when exposed to light.
French scientists continued to experiment with solar power, with a notable achievement by Auguste Mouchout in developing the first active solar motor as well as a solar-powered steam engine. The high cost of production prevented both inventions from succeeding.
Around the globe, scientists were experimenting with solar energy. In the lae 1870s, William Grylls Adams worked out that when light was shone on selenium, it shed electrons, thereby creating electricity.
Albert Einstein, better known for his Theory of Relativity, was awarded the 1921 Nobel Prize in Physics for his theories on the photoelectric effect – involving the generation of electricity through solar cells.
In the 1950s, Bell Laboratories (now known as AT & T Laboratories) developed the first silicon solar cell which could generate a measurable electric current. This was the first time that a cell had been developed that could convert the sun’s energy to power everyday appliances.
The first practical application of photovoltaic silicon solar cells also came in the 1950s with the launch of the satellite, Vanguard 1.In 1981, an aircraft powered by 16 000 solar cells giving off 3 000 watts of power flew from France to England.
The Arab Oil Embargo in 1973/4 forced western economies to rethink solar energy research as a means of reducing their dependence on oil.In the 1970s, Dr Elliot Berman designed a less expensive solar cell, which enabled a large number of new uses to be considered, such as railroads, navigation warning lights and homes in remote areas.
Environmental concerns have also escalated the search for renewable energy resources such as solar power, wind power and geothermal power. And whilst technologies today are a far cry from baked mud and straw bricks, the basic idea of using solar energy as a viable source of renewable energy remains.

Solar energy and its benefits

October 10th, 2009

One of the things that is rising during this kind of economy is the price of energy. Oil and gas prices are rising. And the price of electricity is not spared from this trend.More people are feeling the impact of these increased costs. So naturally people are thinking of ways to earn savings in these regions.  For gas costs some people are choosing to drive less.  For electrical costs people are trying another source of energy called solar energy. So in this article we are looking at the ways people are getting solar energy.

Obviously the most obvious way to get solar energy is to have a solar energy system installed. But for most people nowadays this options is an expensive one.  So what people have been doing is looking for places where they can find cheap solar panels. There are places they can find these inexpensive solar panels. This has resulted in savings of thousands of dollars.

Another way that has helped people save even more money is learning how to build a solar panel themselves.Buying the parts will only cost you a small amount of money. So if you have the ability to do it yourself you have another way to save more money. The method you will choose also depends on how handy you are.  But also depends on how much money you want to save.  If you choose to build a solar panel yourself you can save even more money. So those will be the two factors that people can choose on deciding which method they will use.

People will spend less even if they choose either of the two methods.  That is instead of having a full solar energy system installed. Of course having someone do all the work for you is always nice.It will be more convenient for you. But for some people the ability to make DIY solar panels is also very rewarding.

Solar energy and its good effects

October 6th, 2009

People are more careful now as they become more aware of the environment and the effects of their actions on it.They are more careful and thrifty in the type of energy that they use.  They are careful in the cars they drive. They become more picky with the products that they buy and use.And during these times, one of the things that are becming more popular is the use of solar energy.Solar energy is not just an alternative energy but it is also a clean and natural alternative energy. Therefore, it is very eco-friendly.

One of the ways people are taking advantage of this energy source is by the use of solar panels.  A lot of people are having cheap solar panels installed on their homes. This has given people one way to save on expenses spent in energy. It also helped them in reducing their use of energy that produces carbon which damages our ozone layer which contributes to global warming. And that would be a great situation to be in.

For those people who can do it by themselves can save even more money.  How they have been doing that is by DIY solar panels.Instead of spending a lot of money on a contractor to do it.  They have chosen to learn how to do it themselves.  This has also resulted in even more savings.

They do this by themselves by just following the instructions in the manuals.  Also they have been learning how to build a solar panel on the internet.  There are also helpful videos. There are a lot of ways to get this information. It will be easier if you are versed in household chores in the sense that you can install the panels by yourself.

Once these solar panels are installed in a persons home they experience huge savings in energy costs. Some of those people who have installed a whole system of solar panels for their house doesn’t even have to use energy supplied by the power grid.  But for those that don’t go that far the savings the experience is tremendous.

Being able to help save and conserve the environment is the most important thing that solar energy brings to us.A lot of people enjoy that benefit the most.

A growing trend developing is the green trend.People who want to be more green look to do it with cars to household goods. One of the items that is really popular is energy. A lot of people really want to use cleaner energy. The primary way people are having that done is by having solar energy installed into their homes.

Now when you do choose to go with a solar energy system you will be faced with a couple of choices. You can look for cheap solar panels. There are a bunch of ways to have it done.  You can look for used ones. You can choose to build it yourself. The primary reason that most people are wanting to get cheap panels is because electricians are very expensive. So there is a bunch of people who are looking for other options of doing it just the same.

One of those popular ways is learning how to build DIY solar panels. Now surprisingly it won’t be as difficult as it seems to be.You will be able to find a lot of good info on how to put one together.  Now if you aren’t mechanically inclined it can be tough.  But there are actually guides out there with that in mind. They have been put together in a fashion that allows complete newbies to follow along and successfully put a solar panel together.

Now you can choose the option fo getting your hands on the guide then having someone else put it together. Now naturally it won’t be cheap when you do it yourself. But if you should you decide against building it yourself it is a good alternative.

So whether you hire someone to put a solar panel together or you learn how to build a solar panel by yourself you will go green. You will be able to save quite a bit of energy. And the real important part to all this is the fact you are going to be using clean energy.Last but not least you will save a lot of money in energy costs. If you do want to be more environmentally conscious you have to remember your energy use as well.
