Advice For Children Who Stutter

February 27th, 2010

Do you have a stutter? Does one of your children have a stutter? Do you know somebody who has a stutter? This article is all about the speech impediment known as stuttering or stammering. It includes stuttering advice and also treatments which are available to help people who stutter to achieve fluency.

Stammering or stuttering is a much more widespread impediment that some people might imagine. Latest research suggests that as many as one percent of the population of the UK has a stuttering problem and that around eighty percent of these people are male.

I had a stutter for eighteen years. I have been informed that I started stuttering when I was only four years of age. I regularly attended speech therapy over the next fourteen years before deciding that it was unlikely to ever help me to achieve fluency.

Some people I have met have become extremely good at hiding their own stutter. They have stated that most of the people that they know are not even aware that they have a speech impediment. Some people may well think that it is some what easier for a person with this type of stutter – but this is not always the case. To keep up with hiding and avoiding the stutter is far from easy and takes a huge amount of energy. Life is tough no matter what form of stutter one has.

Other people are not able to hide their stutter in this way and will have what is perceived to be a much more severe stutter – I knew a person who worked for a composite door company who had this form of speech impediment; he did however manage to overcome the problem after attending a stammering cure course.

There are a number of treatments for stuttering including the normal route of speech therapy via the local doctor or hospital. A lot of the people who I have met become rather annoyed at the amount of time that they are asked to wait for this type of speech therapy and become even more annoyed when the therapy actually starts when they realise just how short each session is.

There is also private stop stammering treatments in the form of people who have managed to overcome their own stutter. This can be on a one-to-one basis or in a group situation.

Some Untrue Facts About Heating Oil

October 21st, 2009
Comments Off

As the wintertime fast approaches us all people start to worry about their heating oil and how they are going to get through the wintertime months. This being said, most of this is simply because there is a lot of myths flying around about heating oil as a whole. So let us take a look at some of these myths.

Replace an Oil Tanker with Handles

For a vast amount of time it has been said that if you own an oil tanker with handles then the oil tanker is probably around 20 years old. This is simply not the case, the only way to actually and truthfully tell the age of a tanker is by the serial number.

Oil Tanks Give off a Bad Smell

This is just not the case at all, if the unit is installed correctly then these devices will not emit any odor at all. If you do have a foul aroma coming out of it then perhaps it is time to call in a specialist to have a look at it entirely.

Government States Change the Oil Tanks after 12 Years

A lot of people commence worrying because they feel that they need to splash out and change their oil tank as soon as it hits 12 years old, otherwise they may face a fine. This is just not the case, I mean if your oil tank is working perfectly then you really do not need to change it, only when it starts giving you problems is it time for a change.

To sum up, the only expenses you should really have on a yearly basis is to keep the boiler topped up with pure heating oil. Boilers in my experience do not tend to cause problems year in year out.

Universities implement Student Catering Guidelines

October 21st, 2009
Comments Off

It has recently been annouced from the FSA that students in the UK will be given lessons on cooking food safely whilst living on campus. Catering skills at University are not exactly what one would call safe and now a separate department at each University institution will be partly responsible for the up keep and safety of their students whilst they are living on halls.
Why are the Government doing this? Firstly, it will be hopefully be teaching students the value of cooking food safely and properly and secondly it will save on damage costs on the University itself. At the moment there is literally too much damage being caused to University property and there has to be something done about it. Educating the students early on is the most effective way to learn about the value of good and safe cooking inside University property. Whilst I was studying at University keeping the kitchen in a good state was not on the top of my priorities and neither was it anyone else’s. However, Universities from across the country are now investing a fair amount of time and effort into getting safety as their primary concern. So, how are they going to do this? Initially, the Universities will be putting up helpful posters and banners to help studetns on campus and after that monthly appraisals will be introduced to monitor activity on halls.
Of course not all students are in-capable in the kitchen as some would think. Catering courses at University have shot up. More people from across the board are wanting to study catering. Wedding Caterers and Private Catering is a massive industry and more students are willing to learn about the trade. The work is rewarding and pays well so it is natural that people are interested.

Decorative Mirrors And The Best Suppliers

October 13th, 2009
Comments Off

In all the decorative mirrors online posts I have ever written, I have never really considered the suppliers of these great household item. So in this post I have decided to focus all my attention specifically at them. Below are 3 key tips on how to find the best supplier or seller to buy from.

For one, if a supplier is really reliable and good then it should have a lot of testimonials. This is a sign that people are happy with the service and are willing to bet on it. These people provide a clear signal for you to buy from that seller. Now if you are trying to find best decorative wall mirrors online then start by looking up sites with a lot of testimonials.

You can also spot a good decorative mirrors supplier by looking at how flexible they are with their contact information. A good seller shouldn’t be afraid of encouraging you to contact them directly for more information. So if they have a contact number, email, online chat then you know these are confident about their products and are not afraid to answer any questions posed at them. One with a toll free number is even better.

You can also gauge them by ascertaining the amount of time they take before getting back to you when you have a query sent via email. This essentially dictates that you start by asking questions before buying anything from a seller whom you’ve never dealt with before. Keep track of the time they take to get back to you. This should give you a good idea about how whether to buy from that particular seller or not.

Having said all that I will say this – ultimately the choice is yours. Try to follow your heart.
So whether you are planning on buying  decorative bathroom mirrors or any type that suites you you must be very careful or else you might find yourself scammed by the ruthless sales reps who are roaming around the internet.
